Five Trappahs

Greetings!

The traps are in! The 2020 Lobster Pot Challenge and season is officially underway!

We worked extremely hard on Saturday to get the gear into suitable fishing condition. Shout-out Sam Bres for all the help with getting the boat and traps set for the inaugural 2020 launch! Also, an even bigger shout-out to Em Bres for watching William (The Boss) while Liza and I put in work!

Just a week ago I got my legs under me with Capt’ Tony and boy did I learn a lot…mostly some hilarious one-liners, some of which should not be repeated!

“Think of the ocean as a big chicken coop…we are going out to feed the chickens and collect the eggs”

I was a little peon “five trappahh” that got the call up! Yes, that’s what us “part-timahs were called by some salty, sour, felon jerk – well actually he called Ben that because he has paw prints on his buoys – which are so cute BTDubbs. Any whose, I did not disappoint aboard the “Rolling Stone”… even got a compliment or two, but not before Tony told me I was wearing the wrong outfit, gloves, and that my oils skins (Grundens) were on wrong! I think I was told the recipe for the bait bag every other trap (which is basically a handful of what is in the bait bucket…). Every now and then I’d mix it up to see if he was paying attention – got caught every time. We hauled 260 traps on the day and ended up with 140 lobster; pretty sure all Tony did was drive the boat and b*tch at me for doing things wrong and yell at me for trying to stay hydrated – but hay, I’m used to that…I mean I am a 4th generation garbageman after all!

I will say, I may have to march up to Augusta and impose a bill of hands free lobstering – his goddamn phone never stopped ringing! Good thing we know some people who can help us with that😉

“The June Bluuuuues”

UPDATES: The boat top is not done… I did see it in a couple of pieces (looks good). It was quite the process getting the boat in the water….don’t need to bore you with those stories. Anyways I’m supposed to get a phone call when they are ready to install the T-Top. Until then the boat is in the water and ready to start slaying.

The traps hit the water last year on 6/8/2019, and this year on 6/13/2020. June has generally been a slow month. Last June we caught 19…we have two and half weeks to get there!! Don’t worry!

“Murphy’s Claw” did a few trips in and out of harbor to get their traps in – Mission Accomplished.

Upcoming: I ordered a barrel of red fish bait yesterday from Tony! Should be here any minute!! Gotta go help salt them when they arrive! Heading out this evening to check traps and hopefully get our first ones on the board!

Special shout out to Aunt Cheri L'Esperance who had successful surgery on Sunday! On the road to recovery!!!! LFG!!!!! Pompano needs to be closed up!

Spotlight company: Annie B Photography…. I did a little website work last week… Check out Anne’s link in the “Merchandise” tab. The link will bring you to her Instagram (website coming soon…) All pictures are of your classic New England Landscape and are available for purchase. She has more options available that you don’t see on her Instagram too. She ships direct! Reach out if interested.

P.S took Capt’ Tony in my boat on Sunday for a nice jaunt upriver. We drove 11 miles up to Dover, NH along the Piscataqua and Cocheco Rivers. I obviously prepped a cooler full of Millah Lites and let him drive! It's safer that way!!! Notice anything in this photo...how about them Shawn T pecks😉 we also got Capt Tony into the Casella koozies, he’s a supporter.

Side Note P.S. : Check your local Real Estate listings. Yours truly just passed the NH exam yesterday, “Banfield Realty Group LLC” here we come… Jkjkj, but actually probs not hahaha. Man of many talents and companies!
