Happy Sunday Folks!
I haven't even added my secret bait ingredient to the mix yet and Little Duder Lobster Co is giving coolers full of lobsters away at record breaking rates! This week’s total of 28 tied a couple of boat records! We started off on Monday with a pretty discouraging trip out to Wood Island, bringing in a whopping 5 lobsters. We didn't let it hold us back too much - we stuffed about 30 poagies into the bait bags and let-er-rip.
Unfortunately, with some things going on during the week and some heavy dense fog and rain towards the end of the week, The Liza B couldn't let loose from the mooring until Friday afternoon...I know I know some of you are probably wondering why someone who sits at home all day trying to figure out life, can't figure out how to fish a couple more days....(middle finger emoji to you - you know who you are)!!!
Anyways Friday afternoon was like holding back a horse entering the gate at the Kentucky Derby. The Liza B couldn't wait to get the ponies of the Chevy 350 running, and it had a reason to be excited! It was an extraordinary evening! We tied a boat record of hauling in 18 in one night! It seemed like our set from Monday was paying off (and maybe even the time in between) because every trap that surfaced was full of lobsters! If I was a commercial guy my eyeballs would have been like a winning slot machine at Foxwoods with dollar signs running across the board! As we chugged back, I had to send some text messages out...my little keeper trap at the boat was not going to be able to handle the new additions...I was running out space. Thankfully the Moriarty clan had a party going on (which apparently no one else was invited to) and I was able to send a cooler full up coast to Drakes Island - giving me just enough space to let our lobsters move around. Second Mate Kenny joined us yesterday afternoon and after soaking 21 hours from Friday night, we pulled in 6 more. Just enough to tie our boat record for most caught in the week (as a reference, that was mid-August last year).
Last year, we caught 18 total at this point. This year we are already up to 71! Monday I have to go to the lobster warehouse to get a couple of supplies - bigger keeper trap, some spare measuring tools as First Mate Liza dropped some in the water including my original that I have had for 3 years - she looks good out there but still learning the ropes. I will be also picking up a bucket of my secret ingredient to add to the bait bags. This will create a little more stank in the deep fathoms of water (12 ft) to attract the lurking sea critters.
I am currently looking for a couple of investors to get in on Tony's bait water juice. Shouldn't take much capital to get up and running!
On a personal note, Liza and I decided that we are no longer in need of a dog. Little Duder loves hanging with his little friends (pictured below).
This week is going to be a good week, look for the update next Sunday I have some surprise content coming, and remember... don't let Monday ruin your Sunday!
Love to all, Capt’n Duder
